Something I really love and am passionate about is Flash games, aka games made in Adobe Flash!! If you don't know about Flash, it is a now defunct (unless you find a way to download an old version) software for making games and animations that was popular in the 90s to early 2010s. A lot of websites back in the 2000s used Flash content as their layout as well.
Flash was really special because it was accessible to the masses and easy to use. It's what got everyday people that otherwise wouldn't have made games and animations into the scene and able to make creative, popular, and sometimes downright disturbing indie games. A lot of beloved games and animated series we know and love today would have never seen the light of day if it wasn't for Flash.
One of the most popular websites to host flash games and animations during Flash's heyday was of course Newgrounds! While Newgrounds was, and is, well known for its offensive and controversial content that tended to push the envelope, so many artists, game developers, and animators got their start posting Flash content on Newgrounds.
Flash unfortunately was discontinued in 2020, but that doesn't stop Flash content from being accessible today! So many old Flash games have been saved by Ruffle Flash Emulator, or converted to HTML5 by sites like Newgrounds. You can also download Flashpoint Archive, which is an archive of over a hundred thousand flash games. Newgrounds also hosts an annual Flash Forward game jam event where people make new flash games.
I'm passionate about Flash because not only is it an important part of internet culture, it also is perfectly in line with the spirit of independent artistry. Some Flash games were legendary, some were terrible, and some were offensive. But they all have the right to exist. Now more than ever, we need to think about Flash and what it stood for.
With that ramble out of the way, this page is a list of some of my favorite Flash games!!

Alice is Dead 1 - Alice is Dead 2 - Alice is Dead 3
Alice is Dead is a trilogy of Point and Click games by ImpendingRiot and Hyptosis. It's kind of a dark, mystery take on Alice in Wonderland. It has colorful characters, fun puzzles, and an interesting storyline that is somewhat ambiguous. It also has great voice acting and a unique art style!!

I LOVE Motherload! It's a game where you play as a guy operating a little digger, mining on Mars. It's unexpectedly a bit creepy, both in atmosphere and certain elements of the plot. In the game, you dig as far as you can go, getting minerals and buying upgrades for your digger. The ending has a pretty fun twist that you could only really expect in a flash game haha!

Scribble is a cute little game that I played a lot as a kid. You have to lead these little critters called blots to the end of the level by drawing bridges and lines to keep them from getting near obstacles or things that could hurt them. It's something of a puzzle game, because you have to figure out the best way to get as many of your blots to the end of the level. I also really love the soundtrack of this game. The art style is really cute too!!

Acid Factory on Games Zap - Acid Factory on Internet Archive
Acid Factory is an isometric top down shooter where you play as a little guy named Harry who needs to escape an acid factory that's having some sort of meltdown. There are zombies you have to avoid and some puzzles you have to solve by moving crates and things. This was a Miniclip game, and unfortunately it's no longer playable there. But you can find it on other sites, including Internet Archive.
Here are some other Flash games I love!
