2000s Virtual Pet Nostaliga

This is my shrine to Neopets!! I've been playing since I was 9 years old, and I'm still actively on neopets 15 (!!) years later. When I was really into it, I would spend hours and hours making giant crazy petages (webpages) for my neopets, giving them characters and personalities and things. And come on, I still do, but not as much as I used to. But it's good nostalgic fun! I learned so much about coding websites from doing it all the time on Neopets! There's no way I'd have even been interested in learning CSS and HTML if it wasn't for Neopets! Me and my sister would play neopets together when we were kids, and sometimes we'd chat on the neoboards from the same room on separate computers xD.

My Neopets Art and Characters

I like to draw my neopets and make up stories for them to put on their webpages. I had a lot of fun doing it as a kid and young teen, as it helped me improve my art and writing skills. And it's just fun! It has been a nice way of relaxing, especially from around 2017-2020, when it brought me some comfort during a hard time in my life.

Muonnek

Age: 17-19

Species: Unconverted Sponge Lupe

Muonnek is a daydreamer who lives on the moon. When he was a child, he made a wish on a star every night to leave his home in Neopia Central to live on the moon. He was frequently sick when he was young, and his family rarely let him get outside and see the world, for fear he'd catch an illness. He wished so much that the moon granted his wish and let him fly away to her. The moon welcomed Muonnek as her own son and let him play for hours in the craters under the starlight. When Muonnek grew up, he became tired of having fun all day and wanted to work. He is now caught between wanting to be a grown up and leaving home, and staying on the moon.

The moon is incredibly overprotective, but every year for one day, he is allowed to go back to Neopia to sell mooncakes with magical properties at a lunar festival. He is friendly to all he meets there, but whenever people try to find him after, he is gone, taken back to the moon.

I did most of his art around late 2020 and early 2021.
